Well, the holidays are here and the Sea View is busy, busy!

We are about to host our third wedding and it is very exciting! Thanksgiving was splendid - the company and the weather! Christmas is just around the corner and I am thrilled to host new guests, return guests, and family ~

Thanks again for an absolutely wonderful year - I look forward to seeing you all over the coming months. Wishing you and your families the HAPPIEST of holidays and a New Year full of MAGIC!

Hello Summer!!

It is hot, hot, hot here in Melbourne Beach! Perfect for a dip in the beautiful blue ocean! The turtles are coming up to nest in full force right now ~ what an amazing sight!

I want to extend a BIG "Thank You" to all of our guests for making 2010 absolutely amazing - June brought more than DOUBLE the guests we had this time last year - wow! I have had the pleasure of meeting some amazing singles, couples and families from New Jersey to Michigan - Ontario to Germany - St. Pete to St. Cloud. Everyone is so warm and welcoming and many of you have promised to return again next year (or even sooner!). I look forward to meeting new guests, but also to seeing those guests again and again ~ we learn a little bit more about each other with each visit ~

I get lots of questions about how close we are to the beach, how clean the rooms are, what the weather is going to be like next month and a whole host of questions that I sometimes struggle to find answers for. Bear with me ~ I try to describe this unique place to new guests, but it can be hard to have all the right answers! The Sea View is definitely not a chain-hotel, it is unique and funky, old-school and new-school all wrapped into a laid-back oceanfront getaway. I put my heart and sweat into this place every day to ensure that guests have a top-notch experience here - but I have some quieter days too - don't forget I'm human too!

I have received some great feedback on the blog - and will continue to post as often as I can. I truly appreciate all of the support our guests have shown our little family business. We have been vacationing in Melbourne Beach since the 70's and we just think its a magical place ~ I hope you'll come discover it for yourself ~

Welcome Spring!

Hello Everyone!

What a whirlwind it has been here at the Sea View ~ so many positive things have happened here it is simply overwhelming!

The most exciting news is that, thanks to all of your positive energy and kind words, the Sea View Motel has been rated #1 in Melbourne Beach! That is a lot to live up to, but I am going to keep working hard and keep improving. I have really taken all of your feedback to heart and appreciate the input. The Sea View is my first experience as a motel manager and the first major renovation I have overseen so it has been a learning experience - a very rewarding challenge for sure! So - THANK YOU again very much for choosing the Sea View as a vacation destination and keep the lines of communication open I love hearing your suggestions and stories. I look forward to seeing you all again and to meeting new guests this Spring/Summer ~

The Sea Wall and Ocean Front Patio are both complete and it is such a relief to have those two big projects done. The patio has really turned into the social hub of the Sea View - people enjoying lunches with their families, bathing in the sun and even meeting new friends! I had the pleasure of being invited to the Sea View's first ever TEA PARTY - it was really cool! A young, hip visitor named Clementine invited me and we had bunny crackers and jelly beans out on the patio - it was a wonderful day!

The Sea View hosted its second WEDDING - Kyle and Regina Armour of Florida - Congratulations! It was a beautiful event and everyone had such an amazing time. Thanks to the Armours for choosing the Sea View as the place to celebrate!

Turtle season began March 1st so we are trying to be extra-conscious about exterior lights and not using flashlights on the beaches - so far no sign of turtles nearby, but we'll be in full swing as Springtime gives way to SUMMER - so I can't wait to see my first turtle! The plants and flowers are recovering from a really chilly winter here, so it is time to put on the gardening gloves and get to work -

Again, thanks to all of our guests who have contributed to making Sea View such a beautiful place to be - both to live and work and for those who come and spend a day or even the season - it is truly a pleasure to see so many smiling faces and friendships being made - that's really what its all about!

Welcome to the Sea View Blog!

The Sea View was built in the 1950's and has had three owners - we are now the proud fourth! We purchased the Sea View in July of 2008 and spent a considerable amount of time giving it a much needed face-lift. We have finished both buildings now and the repair of the sea wall. Now we can concentrate on beautifying the outdoor areas with new paver patios and landscaping.

All of our rooms are unique and can accommodate one person or up to a party of six depending on the room. Each room has a fully equipped kitchen and I recently added complimentary coffees and teas to add an extra-special touch! We also have books and games in the rooms for you to enjoy. Fresh linens are supplied and upon request we can give you a change of sheets or towels anytime. I encourage guests to ring my door bell if they need anything: advice on where to grab a bite, a blender to borrow or maybe just share a story about their travels or what fish was biting today -

Extra-special perks: We offer free wi-fi and guests passes to Melbourne Beach Fitness. The wi-fi can be temperamental I admit, but usually it is right on (plus, its free!). I am a SPIN instructor at our local gym (Melbourne Beach Fitness) and I am proud to offer complimentary guest passes to check out a class or use the cardio machines and weights. Just ask and I'll give you a class schedule and a pass to use for the day. The fitness center is located next to Publix just a half-mile north in the Driftwood Plaza.

Rates vary from $125 to $195 per night depending on the room. We have discounted weekly and monthly rates as well. All of our prices include tax. Please call (321.723.0566) for rates and availability -

We have the perfect spot on Melbourne Beach - we are located between Ponce de Leon and Archie Carr National wildlife refuge - this means that our beach is pristine and uncrowded and the perfect place to glimpse pelicans, sea turtles, dolphins, ghost crabs and all sorts or beautiful wildlife. Nature is at its finest right here in our little piece of paradise!

The Beachfront Units

The Beachfront Units: Units 1 and 2

Unit 1 is a two bedroom unit and Unit 2 is a King efficiency. They both have fully equipped kitchens, full baths and private oceanfront patios. Below you will find a sampling of pictures from the two units - the rooms are charming and super-clean. All of our rooms here feel more like a home away from home - these are not a typical 'motel room'.

Unit 1 has a Queen bed in the master bedroom - you can see the ocean from bed! The second bedroom has two twin beds. There is a full bath. The living room has a pull out couch, Flat screen TV and a dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a private ocean front patio.

Unit 2 has a King bed, flat screen TV, fully equipped kitchen, full bath and a private ocean front patio.

These units are book well in advance so please call ahead if you have your heart set on these as they go fast!

We hope you will find the Sea View to be a special place that you will keep coming back to with your friends and family - it is our little gem!

In Full Bloom!!

Please enjoy these pictures of the beautiful flowers that are blooming here at the Sea View- we are so blessed to be surrounded by such exotic flowers! Something new is blooming every day! Maybe today it will be the Prickly Pear Cactus, or perhaps the Bird of Paradise - you can bet that the Hibiscus will be covered in new blooms and our colorful ground cover blooms all year! It is certainly a colorful place to be!

Sea Turtles!!

Greetings ~

One of the many joys of Managing the Sea View is being able to witness the beauty of the Sea Turtles who come to nest every year from March to October. A Full Moon is always a great time to view the turtles - responsibly, of course!

Guidelines for responsible 'turtle watching':

1. State and Federal Law prohibits touching or disturbing nesting turtles, their nests and hatchlings -
2. The use of flash photography and flashlights should be avoided -
3. Keep all unnecessary exterior lighting OFF or as dim as possible as it disturbs adults and hatchlings -
4. Keep the beaches clean and free of hazards: pick up trash and bring all chairs & umbrellas in at night or when you leave the beach -

Barrier Island Sanctuary is just a few short miles south of the Sea View and they offer plenty of ways to get involved with Sea Turtle preservation efforts - make sure you visit the sanctuary while you are in Melbourne Beach! They also offer lots of educational opportunities and tours about Florida wildlife and habitats.

The Sea View is located on the barrier island on A1A highway - we'd love to have you come stay and experience turtle season - it is so wonderful!

About the Sea View

Hello all!

About the Sea View Motel:

Our family purchased the Sea View in July of 2008 and have spent a considerable amount of time renovating each unit from floor-to-ceiling. We have also given both of the buildings an exterior face-lift. The property has two buildings: one with 5 units and the other with 2 rental units and an Owner's unit.

The two-story building (which has five units total) received a complete paint job, inside and out, new windows, flooring, furniture - the works! It is not a stretch to say that our units are more like apartments than your average motel room. We decorated them to reflect our tastes and what we would like to see in a vacation rental. The upstairs rooms have wood-laminate flooring, asian-style platform beds with Queen pillow-top mattresses, flat-screen TV's, fully stocked kitchens and bathrooms with original 1950's tiling. These rooms are all Queen efficiency units, with the exception of Unit 4 which has an extra twin bed. The rooms on ground-level have ceramic tile floors and as with our other units, fully equipped kitchens. On the ground floor there is a 2-bedroom unit and a Queen efficiency.

The ocean-front building has a King efficiency unit with a King bed, kitchen, bath and absolutely amazing views! French doors open up virtually ON the beach! There is a private patio for you to enjoy as well. There is also a 2-bedroom unit with a Queen bed in the Master bedroom, two twins in the second bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living room. The living room also has a flat-screen TV and a dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a private patio overlooking the ocean. Absolutely spectacular!

My parents honeymooned in Melbourne Beach 32 years ago and immediately fell in love with the laid-back style and gorgeous beaches. We have vacationed here ever since and have always dreamed that we would be able to one day call it home! And here we are!

It has been an exciting adventure so far! We have poured our heart and soul into this property and we hope that you will agree that it is a gem! We love meeting folks from all over the state, country and world- so come on by and take a tour - or better yet, come and stay with us!
